Chapter 6 is a depressing chapter, I really feel bad for David. I cannot believe the way he was treated! I seriously hope his mother goes to jail for every bad thing she has done to David. So mainly in this chapter she is going to be playing games. She would get ammonia and Clorox and put it into a bucket and put it into the bathroom and lock David in there. I can only imagine what the smell was like I hate bleaching my bathroom because of the smell but to sit in there for hours in ridiculous. David is lucky he survived that his way to survive that was smart. There was a heater in his bathroom and a rag he would cover his mouth with the rag and breathe in the air from the heating vent. Another "game" she would play was fill the bathtub with freezing cold water and strip him naked and make put his head under water for a long time. The first time she forced him and he almost passed out when she did it because she took him by surprise and he didn't have enough to think or breathe. All of these "games" were very deadly, she is lucky he didn't die. But the reasons why she was playing these "games" was because David's father was away. He was at work for long periods of time because he wanted to escape from the madhouse. He would stay at work really late sometimes overnight. David's mother was in control of the household now, Davids father had no say in anything he couldn't say what the children's punishments were to be that was all mother's job. Also in this chapter social services came by. His mother knew they were coming so she started to treat David right again. She would take them out to the park she would feed him a proper meal he got to sleep in his bed again he was living the life that he was living before. So when things were getting better things turned to the worst once they arrived. The social service lady asks if his mother ever beats him....David wasn't sure how to answer but he said no, only when I am a bad boy. That made David's mother so mad, when the social service lady left David was being beaten again. Things returned to the way they were.
"Its over sweetheart. After this moment, i want you to forget any of it happened at all. you will try and be a good boy, won't you?"
I couldn't believe she lied to him, it was like taking candy from a baby...so cruel.
Why did David lie to the social worker?
David realized something was up when his mother started to treat him nicely again like the old days.
David's father doesn't stay around much because he can't stand being around his wife and that "mad house"
David lied to the social worker because he didn't want his mom to get in trouble and he was scared that if he told the truth, he would die
